In fact, these objects were made from shards of a single large Emerald once possessed by the former Archangel Lucifer. There was a war between angels in heaven, which ended with Lucifer falling down to the earth. The Emerald, having fallen down with the archangel, broke into several pieces, which have been collected by humans to be made into holy relics. Through the passage of time, however, these objects were eventually forgotten by humanity and become a mere myth. For all those lonely years, she missed her former power. Realizing that this was the one way to regain what she had lost, she decided to fuse the relics back together to make the Emerald whole again. However, she immediately regretted the decision: it released a huge amount of energy and turned all of Gensokyo into one large magic dome. As she has travelled a lot, she has lived by so many names that she has already forgotten her true name.
